Workplace > Great Central House, Marylebone, London

Marylebone Station and Great Central House were built in 1899 providing the London terminus to the Great Central Railway.

The Office Group commissioned Metropolitan Workshop to refurbish the Grade II Listed Great Central House, unoccupied for 30 years, to create contemporary workspace.

We worked closely with Westminster City Council’s conservation team to retain the historic character of the interiors whilst introducing contemporary interventions.

Bespoke fitted furniture was designed for key spaces, including corridors where two-person meeting rooms and telephone booths were created. Space was created by extending into an attractive unused roof void.

The project was shortlisted for a 2010 British Council for Offices Award.
