Metropolitan Workshop and White Ink Architects from Belfast won this commission in an invited developer-led competition in 2007.
The site is the last major waterfront opportunity in the heart of Derry on the Foyle Embankment, close to the ancient city walls and the Guildhall conservation area.
The 14,500m2 project will form a new plaza and street frontages to Whitaker Street and Foyle Street and will connect with a new pedestrian and cycle bridge spanning the Foyle River from Ebrington Barracks and the main rail station.
It includes a 150 bed hotel, 6000 m2 offices, three restaurants, a business centre and 14 apartments.
