Belmayne Neighbourhood Square is a major new residential settlement that forms part of the larger 200ha masterplan of Belmayne on the northern fringe of Dublin. It is a key public space, a social hub and focus for the local community.
Our role involved the spatial re-design of the new square, the development of an urban design framework and the design of two major new mixed-use residential buildings. These courtyards buildings include restaurants, commercial and enterprise units at ground floor level with 284 apartments above.
To reflect the scale, use and importance of the new square as a place, these mixed-use buildings are constructed with a carefully articulated brick outer frame panel that reveals and conceals a delicate intimate inner plane.
The project won planning consent in 2008 and is currently on site.
