Urbanism > University of Northampton, Northampton

Metropolitan Workshop took part in the RIBA competition to masterplan the Avenue Campus. Our proposal was to introduce pedestrianised public realm into a campus which is currently dominated by the car.

A new pedestrianised street is proposed running east to west consolidating the existing accommodation and along it new uses are introduced, such as a new auditorium and learning resource centre. The new route will invigorate currently underused spaces within the university and significantly improved the student experience. Uses are positioned to optimize connections with the existing community and businesses and builds on the university’s ambition to work with local enterprise.

This proposal was short-listed along with four others.
