Ivo is an ARB registered Architect & Urban Designer with 7 years of experience and an architectural background built upon the idea of Architecture as Urbanism and design as a tool to develop strategic planning.

He has an extensive international experience from living, working and teaching in six different countries and a master’s degree in Housing and Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture AA, in London.

Throughout his career, Ivo developed a particular interest in the role of architecture to deliver high quality urban environments and in a typological approach urban design.

Prior to joining Metropolitan Workshop in 2019, Ivo worked on urban design projects of various scale. These includes a transport oriented development to deliver a mixed-used masterplan for 3000 homes in West Ham, London; design guidelines for a new town comprising 100.000 new homes in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and an award-winning submission for an Eco-Town in Dongtan for 6000 homes in an ecological sanctuary just outside Shanghai.

Ivo’s portfolio also includes a series of regeneration and intensification projects, such as the Waterloo Estate Regeneration in Sydney. This was a transport oriented development which provided opportunities to transform and intensify the estate, increasing the capacity from 2000 to 6000 homes. Ivo is currently involved in the ongoing regeneration of Wendling Estate in London, led by Metropolitan Workshop. Finally, Ivo has also developed a particular interest in places of production and industries in inner cities.
