Drammen Havn

Drammen Havn asked Metropolitan Workshop to prepare a feasibility study of environmental improvement ideas for the harbour area.

Port operations are busy and expected to increase over the next few years. Our task was to investigate how the harbour could become better integrated with the city fabric as a clean, compact and modern port.

We led the development of a methodology in collaboration with consultants which would enable the port’s objectives to be delivered incrementally alongside a programme of environmental improvements.  These included landscaping, public art, colour, lighting, wayfinding, branding and the establishment of an architectural code. An Environmental Improvement Guide structures these new interventions.
