Residential Masterplan with Student Accommodation and Local Centre Facilities
Metropolitan Workshop prepared a masterplan of the entire site for residential development, student accommodation, local centre facilities, and a new link street between Moyglare Road and Dunboyne Road. The subject lands comprise an area of approximately 21.26 ha occupying the north eastern corner of the town boundary of Maynooth, beyond the existing urban area.
Following completion of the masterplan, Metropolitan Workshop advanced designs for the Student Village & Local Centre which will consist of 484 bed spaces of student accommodation within buildings ranging from 3-4 storeys, with associated management suite and student common areas.
The local centre consists of the creation of a new urban street frontage onto the Moyglare Road creating a new civic space with retail units fitness gym, crèche building and café. To the rear of the site the proposals take advantage of the steeply stepping topography overlooking the Lyreen Valley to provide safe and secure sunken courtyards to the student accommodation.
The successful application was submitted to An Bord Pleanála as a strategic housing development under the Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Act 2016.
